[SHN] is not a 'clan,' but what we like to call an 'assembly,' the difference being in the base of the structure. Rather than
a competitive group of players who gather and strive for standing and achievement, an assembly is merely a group of players
who wish to meet with each other frequently for friendly sparring.
The origins of [SHN], which stands for Salem Half-Life
Network, began in approximately 1998, when three cs players - Hoobs, Kazeshi and That Guy, decided they were tired of playing
on servers with abusive admins or high ping, and wanted a haven to go for a guaranteed enjoyable game. Thus, they created
a small, 8 player server out of That Guy's basement, and aptly named it the Salem Half-Life Network, naemd after the hometown
of the founders. Slowly, more and more players began wearing the tag, simply because they enjoyed the server and liked our
ideals. Thus the true [SHN] network was born.
Since then, the server has faded in and out of existence, until it recently
found a professional host so the gamers of [SHN] could have a place to call home.
Our Mission
[SHN] provides a haven for players for do not seek a 'clan-like' atmosphere, but still want to improve their skills or just
hang around for fun. Want to 'join' us? Just wear the tag. Everyone's allowed to have a good time, right?
